Routine workplace panels, including common 5, 10, or 12-panel tests, do not screen for kratom or its main alkaloid, mitragynine. These tests are designed to detect specific drug classes, and kratom isn’t among them. Detecting kratom requires a specialized test, typically a targeted assay or LC-MS/MS panel. These are uncommon unless explicitly ordered. Kratom also does not trigger false positives on standard drug screens, as its alkaloids do not overlap with the substances those tests are designed to detect.
